About
Martin Paull is a Canberra artist who has been painting
since graduation from the South Australian School of Art in 1992. Martin has
exhibited widely in Australia with several major galleries including Maunsell
Wickes (Barry Stern), Solander, Ben Grady, and Beaver Galleries.
Martin maintained studios at Central Studios in Adelaide
where he worked and exhibited until moving to Canberra in 1995. Martin has had
studio spaces in Canberra at Leichhardt Street, ANCA, and O'Connor A-Frame Studios.
Notable recognition includes:
- Finalist in the 2010 Blake Prize -
featuring in that year's national touring exhibition for his stations
of the
cross series Death of a Swearword
- Shortlisted - 2011 Blake Prize
- Director's Cut - 2012 Blake Prize
- Finalist - 2015 Mission to Seafarers Prize, Melbourne, for his work The Drowned and the Saved
- Finalist - 2017 M16 Drawing Prize for his work The Drone Pilot
Martin's
work is in the Artbank Australia and Canberra Museum and Gallery public
collections. Martin's work is represented in many private collections
in Australia and overseas.
